Grower Story
John Coakley purchased the raw land in 2002 from a Napa winery who in the 1990s imagined the site as a potential expansion into Rhone plantings. The property’s history includes having charcoal made out of some of the trees during the early 20th century, but since that time it had been in an annual rotation of picturesque Safflower and hardy Winter Wheat for nearly a century. John waited to plant the vineyard until his family moved back to Paso, with most of his grandchildren now living nearby and highlighted with designated blocks named after them.
