About Coakley Vineyard

Coakley Vineyard sits in the heart of the Templeton Gap within picturesque west Paso Robles. This 43 acre family owned and operated vineyard is the culmination of ideal terroir, technology and management. Growing on marine based calcareous soils, Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc cascade down the steep hillsides. The grapes at Coakley vineyard are ripened to perfection with the quintessential Paso Robles heat then cooled by afternoon coastal winds. Certified sustainable, the vineyard employs cutting-edge irrigation technology and precise scheduling to optimize water usage.
The property is rich with agricultural history, including having charcoal made out of some of the trees during the early 20th century. Since that time it had been in an annual rotation of picturesque Safflower and hardy Winter Wheat for nearly a century. John Coakley started living on the property in 2002 but waited to plant the vineyard in 2018 when his family moved back to Paso. As a dedication, each of the grandchildren have vineyard blocks named after them.
