Santa Rita Creek Vineyard, named for the winding Santa Rita Creek that borders it on three sides, is nestled in the heart of the Templeton Gap Sub-AVA. This unique location benefits from the cooling afternoon winds characteristic of the “Gap,” creating an ideal climate for grape ripening in late summer. Designed in 2021 and planted in 2022, every aspect of the vineyard, including row orientation, planting density, and irrigation layout, was carefully planned based on thorough soil and climate analysis, with the primary goal of maximizing the quality of each section of the property. The vineyard’s soil is composed of deep marine layers, transitioning to a surface rich in cobblestones, which reflects the direct influence of its namesake’s creek, adding depth and character to the fruit grown here.  Being surrounded by a creek, oaks, and abundant wildlife, strong consideration is given to preserving the flora and fauna which were there long before vines.  The vineyard is SIP Certified and chemical alternatives are regularly utilized to manage pests.
